There are a few parts I really like about Turnip28
- It doesn’t take itself seriously.
- It doesn’t take 5 hours to play.
- If you are unlucky the terrain will eat you.
- It is HEAVILY into kit-bashing.
- You can 3d print most of what you need.
- The Monty Python-ness of it all.
Here are the first few images of my warband.
I get that the idea is VERY dirty, and these are only KINDA dirty. I’m not sure if I will change that. Maybe these guys are the high elves of Swill.
Gluing tufts of grass to their bodies is strangely satisfying.
Not sure where to go next, but it will be a lot of fun!
Also see the AI generated Aunts Ascendant image. I was amazed at the feel and attempted to create the aunts in 3d to be able to print them. Alas! it did not work as planned and the test was abandoned.
I MAY revisit it soon, as I would LOVE to see this as a mini.
There IS a balloon .stl on the myMiniFactory page, which enourages aunt kitbashing. I’d love to see anyone else’s interpretations of this.
While I’m here I thought I would post what I’m using for .jpg to .webp conversion:ffmpeg -i in/%8d.jpg -c:v libwebp out/%8d.webp
.webp is ROUGHLY 1/2 the file-size of .jpg and the quality seems roughly the same.
If you don’t like command line/python/ffmpeg then you can always use GIMP to saveAs. Takes longer, but easier if you are only doing a few images.
For my turnip fodder I was drawn to make them slightly overweight. I used Krieg 3d prints from The Makers Cult
for their legs and glued the bodies overhanging the belts at the front. I then filled the back/side love-handles with milliput, giving them a slightly overweight feel. I filed down the emblems of the shields (again Makers Cult) and used brass rod for the spears, as I KNEW they would only last 2 minutes before snapping if I used resin.
Overall VERY impressed, lots of fun resulting in kind of unique look and feel.
