Ultramarines

Ultramarines.
Here is a quick rundown of my paint process for Ultramarines.
This has been a good process allowing me to paint over 30 mini’s in a short-ish amunt of time

  • undercoat black (airbrush)
  • basecoat Mcragge blue (airbrush)
  • ambient light pass Calgar blue (light coat from above) (airbrush)
  • 50/50 nuln oil /water wash
  • black armpits/knees/crotch/gun/backpack body
  • mcragge/calgar/fenrisian blue backpack top
  • nuln oil eyes/edge of shoulder pad gold/chest eagle/knees
  • dry calgar blue
  • dry calgar blue/fenrisian gray
  • dry fenrisian gray
  • dry fenrisian gray/white
  • dry metal gun/backpack vents
  • gold chest eagle/shoulder pads/ center of backpack
  • silver dry eagle/shoulder pads

base using sand from baseball diamond. add agrax earthshade to taste

weathering using Secret Weapon rust shade, brown/red rust and small spots of silver
varnish using secretWeapon satin varnish on armour, gloss varnish on gold
